  Dietary Schedule

This is the suggested 100% home-meals based dietary schedule for a mature & healthy RES, who gets adequate UVB exposure. This is by no means a benchmark, and you would need to vary it based on your turtles' physiological condition & taste preferences. In younger turtles the frequency of non-vegetarian food might be increased, to every alternate day. Do read notes below table!

Important Notes

(n): Normal Serving, equivalent to the size of the head & neck
(s): Smaller Serving, equivalent to the size of the head only

  1. In absence of Cod liver oil, a natural source of Vitamin A, a small dose of supplement might be
      added
  2. Vitamin D supplementation might be increased to twice in the 10-day cycle, if your turtle is getting
less than the recommended UVB exposure
  3. Day 10 diet can be substituted with vitamin/calcium fortified commercial bird/cat/turtle food
  4. If your turtles prefer commercial food, you could substitute it on Day 4 too
  5. Commercial food expands on absorbing water, so don't stuff your turtle!
  6. If you are providing human multi-vitamin supplements, we recommend that you provide two  brands (e.g., Supradyn/ Nutrisan) in alternate 10-day feeding cycles. This helps because, different supplements contain a varying composition of vitamins & other elements, and using two  brands
